§ 1 Scope

These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) apply to all contracts between

Jochen Weingarth
Albert-Einstein-Straße 80, 68766 Hockenheim
(hereinafter "Provider")

and the user (hereinafter "Customer") for use of the LFID Lost & Found ID Service (hereinafter "Service").

§ 2 Description of Services

LFID is a digital lost-and-found service. The Customer receives one or more unique 13-digit LFID codes that can be attached to their belongings. If a third party finds an item marked in this way, they can anonymously notify the owner via the Provider's website — without revealing the owner's address or phone number.

The Provider solely makes the technical platform available. No guarantee is given for the actual return of lost items.

§ 3 Registration and Contract Formation

The contract is formed upon the Customer's registration and confirmation by the Provider (activation e-mail). The Customer must be of legal age or act with the consent of a legal guardian. The Customer is obliged to provide truthful information. Passing on login credentials to third parties is prohibited.

§ 4 Plans and Prices

The following plans are available:

Plan Contents Price
Digital LFID code (digital), profile & dashboard, e-mail notification upon found-item report 12,00 € / year
Digital + Tag Same as Digital, plus physical accessories: 3 key fobs, 2 stickers and 1 luggage tag with printed LFID code 24,00 € / year

All prices are gross prices including the statutory value-added tax of currently 19 %.

§ 5 Payment

Payment is due before the Service is activated. Payment is made by bank transfer:

Recipient: LFID Service
IBAN: DE66 1203 0000 1037 0867 64
BIC: BYLADEM1001
Reference: Please state the individual payment reference from the confirmation e-mail exactly. Activation takes place after receipt of payment (usually 1–3 business days).

§ 6 Term and Termination

The contract is concluded for one year (365 days) from activation. The contract does not renew automatically upon expiry.

The Customer may cancel their account at any time by e-mail to info@lfid.net. If cancelled before the end of the paid period, no refund is due unless the Customer exercises their statutory right of withdrawal (§ 7).

§ 7 Right of Withdrawal

Consumers have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the date the contract is concluded.

To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must notify us (Jochen Weingarth, Albert-Einstein-Straße 80, 68766 Hockenheim, e-mail: info@lfid.net) by means of a clear declaration (e.g. a letter sent by e-mail) of your decision to withdraw from this contract.

To observe the withdrawal period, it is sufficient for you to send the notification of the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period expires.

Consequences of withdrawal: If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments we have received from you promptly and no later than 14 days from the day on which we received notification of your withdrawal.

Expiry of the right of withdrawal: The right of withdrawal expires prematurely if the Provider has begun to perform the service and the Customer has expressly consented before performance began that the Provider may begin performance before the withdrawal period expires, and has confirmed their awareness that they lose their right of withdrawal upon complete performance of the contract. This is presented to the Customer for express confirmation during registration.

§ 8 Obligations of Use

The Customer undertakes:

  • to use the Service exclusively for lawful purposes,
  • not to provide false or misleading information,
  • not to misuse the LFID codes (e.g. to harass third parties),
  • not to use the Service in an automated manner (e.g. via bots or scrapers).

In the event of violations, the Provider reserves the right to block the account without refund.

§ 9 Liability

The Provider is not liable for damages arising from the use or non-use of the Service, in particular not for the loss of items or the failure to locate items despite LFID labelling.

Liability for gross negligence and intentional acts remains unaffected. Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) also remains unaffected.

The Customer has the right to object to the amendments. If the Customer objects, they have the right to terminate the contract at the time the amendments take effect. Continued use of the Service after the amendments take effect does not automatically constitute consent; consent must be given expressly where required by law.

§ 13 Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, to the exclusion of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The place of jurisdiction is, to the extent permitted by law, Hockenheim.

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
